- Recent
Workshops have been very well attended and
evaluations have been excellent. Hardy presented a class on Web 2.0
technologies for CO BOCES which will be of interest to other regional
librarians. The LA SIG-sponsored Professional
Development session was so popular it outgrew the SCLRC Training Room
and was held at TC3.
- Upcoming
Workshops – The final Spring
2008 workshop, Persuasive
Presentations, is completely filled and a waiting list has been
opened.
- Summer
Camp will be scheduled shortly
and include topics such as cataloging, disaster planning, weeding, and
security/dangerous patrons.
- Fall
Programming – Two grant-funded
series proposals have been submitted and await decisions; both concentrate
on digitization topics. SCRLC will be offering more distance learning opportunities
because of the successful spring Webinar series. We will probably use OPAL
(Online Programming for All Libraries) which can also be used for online
meetings. Additional topic suggestions were moving forward with 23 Things, developing a summer school
comparable to RRLC’s for school librarians, resources in Second Life, time
management, library support iTunes University, and WorldCat’s collection
analysis tool.
- Training
Room Update – New laptops,
tables and chairs have arrived and the SmartBoard has been installed. The
room has been used for a number of meetings and several classes and works
very well.
- E&T
Report to the SCRLC Board was
presented to the Board and accepted with thanks.
- E&T
3-Year Plan – Nora will post on
Google Docs for review and editing by the committee.
- E&T
Survey – The Committee edited
the draft survey and it will be released soon.
- New
Business – A lively discussion
of Second Life resulted in requests that a demonstration be part of the
August meeting. A number of useful online services and softwares were
discussed and the list and URLs will be shared with all Committee members.
