Transforming the Library And Making a Visible Difference

During this workshop, Mary Lee Kennedy will demonstrate the significance of assessment of libraries' current users, and non-users, in identifying the services that will meet their needs (current and future) and exceed their expectations. Library directors, managers, and those concerned with strategic planning should attend this workshop to assess their libraries' direction and identify critical measurable, visible, targets for growth. Instructor: Mary Lee Kennedy, Harvard Business School. Lunch included.

 

Google Book Search: Its Impact on Scholarship and Libraries

A distinguished panel will discuss how Google’s vision of the future (and the Book Search project in particular) will impact information for librarians, scholars, and publishers. Distance Learning Support: Are You Ready?

Planning Library Promotion Campaigns: Beyond Pretty Pictures and Optimism

An experienced library-marketing consultant will lead you through crafting a campaign. Attendees will take home a promotion campaign outline and usage notes, lists of ideas and resources; and promotion campaigns developed during the session. Lunch included. Disaster Planning and Collection Salvage

Thurs., June 29, 2006, 9:30 am-12:30 pm; $30/members-SCRLC; $35/non-members

Fire! Flood! Who would you call? What would you need to minimize the damage?  Advance preparation is key – so is doing the right things quickly when disaster hits. This workshop is designed to address the basics of disaster planning, and will focus on the recovery and salvage aspects of emergency response. Coffee and refreshments included.  Instructor: John Dean, Preservation and Conservation Librarian, Cornell University.
