This workshop will provide an overview of digital preservation for digitization projects, including planning and policy development, preservation metadata, and strategies.  Additionally the workshop will discuss approaches to financial sustainability of digital programs.

 

Liz Bishoff, MLS, is Special Assistant to the Dean of Libraries and Head of the Office of Sponsored Programs, University of Colorado-Boulder Library.  Previously she was Vice President for Digital Collection Services at OCLC, and former Executive Director of the Colorado Digitization Program (http://www.cdpheritage.org). Liz has worked with libraries and museums in several states including Alabama, Kansas, South and North Carolina, Missouri, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, and Tennessee on various aspects of their collaborative digitization initiatives.  Liz led the development of collaborative best practices in metadata, including the Western States Metadata Dublin Core Best Practices. Through current work with the Northeast Document Conservation Center, Liz and several colleagues have visited and interviewed museums, historical societies, and libraries of various sizes gathering current status and trends in digital preservation trends and approaches.

 

 

Ready, Set, Digitize is a series of one-day workshops cosponsored by SCRLC and CLRC (Central NY Library Resources Council). These training events are designed to develop a regional cadre of people able to digitize and manage resources to contribute to their libraries’ collections and the SCRLC regional repository.
