PLAN OF SERVICE, 2006-2011

Every five years, SCRLC is required to submit an online plan of service to the Division of Library Development.  The online plan is not user friendly so we have developed a printed, narrative version that we can all actually use!  You can find it on the web at http://www.lakenet.org/scrlc/2006-2011PlanofService.pdf

Key parts of the plan:

  • Mission and strategic Intentions on p3
  • The current and future environment that will affect library services on p5-6

We are planning a few new initiatives:

  • We will reinvigorate our resource sharing program to ensure that interlibrary loan is fast and cost effective.
  • We will begin a regional digitizing program, tentatively called Memories of the Southern Tier.
  • We hope to establish collaborations between nursing schools and regional hospital libraries.
  • Advocacy, particularly with state legislators, will become a higher priority.

All of our other programs and services will continue:  a high quality education and training program, the hospital library program, the various components of our resource sharing program (BARC, resource sharing subsidies, shared databases, partnership with WALDO, union listing, etc.), the RBDB and information technologies program, the coordinated collection development program, consulting, and communication with our members.

Many thanks to the Board of Trustees, and these members of the Task Force who helped with the Plan:
