SCRLC Electronic Resources Committee (ERC) 2003    

 

Reporting:  The Committee will report to the Advisory Committee on Information Technologies and Services.  A member of the ACITS Committee will be a liaison on the ERC.  The SCRLC liaison to ACITS will also be the staff liaison to ERC.

 

Charge:  The Committee will research, review, and recommend electronic information resources for all types of libraries in the region. It will create, maintain, and analyze information on user needs and library electronic resources.  The Committee will also:

 

Membership: The membership will be broadly representative of the SCRLC multi-type membership, and if possible match the membership categories of ACITS.  It should be made up of volunteers who are selectors, users, and reference librarians:

Activities in 2003

 

  1. Continue to help SCRLC staff develop a database of regional information to support an e-resource service (Members, FTEs, populations served etc.)
  2. Monitor e-resources currently purchased in the region and current activities in the state.
  3. Review process for 2002 and make recommendations for any needed changes.
  4. Recommend use of RBDB funds for e-resources for 2004.
  5. Review models for database cost-sharing and make recommendations for implementing appropriate model(s) for the region.
