SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL LIBRARY COUNCIL

BASKET RAFFLE, 2006

Join us for the 40th Annual Meeting SCRLC Basket raffle.

We are planning a basket raffle to be held in conjunction with the 40th Annual Meeting of the Council to be held Friday, October 6, 2006.  The proceeds of the basket raffle will be used to support our continuing education programs by helping to underwrite programs not supported by another grant and to keep the registration fees lower.

If you would like to donate a basket, please fill in the form below or contact Becki at SCRLC (rhicks@lakenet.org or 607-273-9106).  Individuals, or libraries, or committees, or vendors, or any other group, are all encouraged to develop an interesting and exciting themed basket.  The donations are requested by 5 September but earlier is better!

How will this all work?  Complete the basket donation form to let us know you intend to donate a basket.  Then choose an appropriate container (basket, bag, bucket, whatever) and gather the items to go in it.  You could obtain donated items, or get money and buy items for the basket contents.  When the basket is delivered, we will ask you for a detailed list of the contents.  We are a 501(c)(3) organization so your donation is tax exempt. All donors will be clearly identified.

Once the baskets are here (delivered by you or picked up by us by September 5), we will photograph and describe them, and then have them displayed on the web site.  We will advertise the site with information on how people can purchase tickets either online, or at the Annual Meeting.  Tickets will be $2 each, 3 for $5, 6 for $10, or a baker’s dozen of 13 for $20.  The raffle will be held at the Annual Meeting

Each ticket can be assigned to a basket of choice or some or all could be assigned to one basket.  The drawings will be held at the end of the annual meeting.  We hope winners will be present to take their basket home, but they need not be present to win.

Some basket donations already promised:  WALDO (Picnic Basket), SCRLC Board of Trustees, Elmira College Library (Purple Passion), SCRLC staff (Delights from the Historic DeWitt Building), International Motor Racing Research Center, Hurst Associates, and Sara Laughlin Associates.

Baskets already received:  The Cooperstown libraries, a fabulous Cooperstown Collection with a retail value of about $365! the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health, a Play it Safe basket of safety items valued at $50; the New York Chiropractic College, a Health and Wellness basket valued at $65; and Jean Currie, a Fantastic Fibers basket valued at $160 and Autographed by Author, a basket of autographed books valued at $170.

We hope you might donate a basket and that you WILL buy raffle tickets to win one of these great offerings. Watch for announcements of the ticket sales.
