Web-casting? LMS? Distance Learning Jargon Decoded At Last!

Many libraries are now supporting Distance Learning (DL) programs, even providing them, for their patrons. Many of us are also looking at them for our own professional development. SCRLC’s Education and Training Advisory Committee has identified the DL potential for delivering SCRLC’s educational opportunities as very promising. They plan to help us all take full advantage of the convenience, flexibility, and economy of DL.

The first step is to get us all speaking the same language! Karen Dillon, Four County Library System, has compiled a DL Glossary, which is available now at www.lakenet.org/training/dlglossary.html  As with any new process, additional words, phrases, and acronyms are frequently cropping up. When you find one, please forward it to Nora Hardy (nhardy@lakenet.org) and we’ll add it to the SCRLC DL Glossary!  (NH)
