SCRLC Library Assistants’ Special Interest Group
Mission:
The mission of the South
Central Regional Library Council’s Library Assistants Special Interest Group is
to provide professional education and networking opportunities for the region’s
library assistants (i.e. technicians, staff, clerks, etc.) and other library
workers.
Core
Participants: Library assistants from all types of SCRLC region
libraries (i.e. technicians, support staff, clerks, etc.) regardless of local
title.
Goals:
- Provide professional development opportunities.
- Facilitate networking.
- Inform about current library community issues.
- Explore technical and other means to extend
participation in networking and professional education opportunities.
Governance:
An Executive Committee will meet to develop
programs based on the goals of the LA SIG group and suggestions from previous
program participants. Executive Committee meetings will be a combination of
face-to-face and virtual meetings four to six times per year, as needed to plan
SIG events occurring two to four times yearly. Executive Committee members --
- Will be self-selected volunteers.
- Serve a one-year renewable term
- Will be recruited from attendees at each LA SIG event through an
invitation to volunteer to participate.
