The Council Location

Every so often, the Council looks for better or cheaper space to rent or buy in Ithaca.  A couple of years ago, we found a building that would have served our purposes but the negotiations foundered on the need for an environmental study – the location had a gas station on it many years ago.  This summer, we again found a good place to rent.  But this time, after we ran the numbers, there was no financial advantage to our moving.  Our space in the DeWitt Building is a bit funky, it is not the most effective use of space, the parking is terrible, and the space does not always meet our needs.  But it is convenient to downtown, we think our members like to visit the Ithaca bookstores and restaurants, and somehow we make it work.  The rent, which includes all our utilities, is not bad and we have a very good deal on our Internet access in this location.  So for the meantime, we will stay put.  We would love to have a really good training center but we do appreciate the various meeting rooms in our member libraries that you make available to us at no charge.  And moving our training around means that the same people do not always have to travel long distances every time they attend one of our meetings.
