Planning for our Plan of Service:

It does not seem so long ago that we worked with the membership to develop our Plan of Service 2000-2006. But the time has come once again to plan for our next Plan of Service for 2006-2011.

In February, the Board of Trustees started the process by holding a retreat that was facilitated by Chet Warzynski from Cornell University. Using the results of a mini survey of the Board and selected members of the Council, the Board noted accomplishments by, and challenges for, the Council. Then using a combination of narrative and images, the Board identified capabilities and contributions the Council can offer its members and changes in the environment that will have an impact on services. They then suggested some strategies, actions and priorities that would underlie the new plan.

The next steps in our planning include the establishment of a Task Force, gathering more information, and presenting a preliminary plan to the membership. A version of the plan must be provided to the NY State Library online, but within the region we will use an old-fashioned, printed, narrative plan!
