3.      Investigate educational delivery options (such as remote classrooms and computer-based training) for their impact on SCRLC’s audience.

4.   Explore opportunities and topics for SCRLC’s training events.

5.   Educate SCRLC members about delivery options for their patrons.

4.      Recent Workshops & Events – N. Hardy reported that recent classes and events have been very well attended – a number have been filled to capacity! Evaluations have been very positive. SCRLC was invited to do three on-site database training sessions, two at Auburn Memorial Hospital and one at DCMO BOCES. J.Brock reported that he attended recent classes on Digital Photography, blogs, and online surveys and has already successfully implemented what he learned from all three classes at DCMO BOCES.

5.      Upcoming Workshops & Events – SCRLC will have a very full schedule this spring. Early spring will see the “Final Four” Library: Place, Service, or Both?  workshops, including one on copyright which should have broad appeal. The Conservation/Preservation classes are very well attended this year; many are filled to capacity. The Library Assistants’ SIG will sponsor a half-day presentation (4/25/07, SUNY Cortland) on serving patrons with disabilities covering physical barriers, computer usability, and interpersonal issues.

6.      Grant Proposal – Leadership and Collaboration: Improving Library Services SCRLC has applied for a grant which will fund 1) a series of 10 workshops on digitization, 2) a Library 2.0 5 workshop series, and 3) a Collection Development Conference(1 ½ day).

7.      Around the table:   John Brock (DCMO BOCES) is planning a teleconference on podcasting; he is using many online techniques to enhance communication with his farflung members (2nd biggest in NYS).

Sarah Maximiek (BU) Learning Commons is entering second phase, she leads the reference team; brought up Grokker; with Janet Hogan, Jeanne Eichelberger, and Abigail Bordeaux leaving, there will be many staffing changes; Tech. Services and Public Services have been combined under Susan Currie.

Judith Andrew (Ithaca College) reported the each department now has a blog and all are visible to all lib. staff – very useful.

Gail Wood (SUNY Cortland) has been working with her campus on iTunes U and the Information Commons has been enthusiastically adopted by the students.

Mary King (Moore Memorial Lib.) reported the progress on the building project.

Matt Hogan (SE Steuben PL) described some recent successful team-building for the lib. staff. Their blog has been very active; they have offered a number of computer-based classes recently; and are in presenting a workshop series for non-profit organizations.

Nora Hardy (SCRLC) just attended an excellent webinar (offered by NNLN) on podcasting; it might be a very good program to offer in our region.
