Minutes

Present: Matthew Hogan (Chair), Judith Andrew, Nora Hardy, Janet Hogan, Mary King, and Diane Talbot. Minutes taken by Nora Hardy.

Excused: Lance Heidig, Robin Petrus, and Gail Wood.

1)      March 29, 2006 minutes approved.

2)      Recent Workshops & Events – Hardy reported that all of the recent workshops have been very well received. Increasing numbers of participants are coming to SCRLC events from outside the region. The College of DuPage teleconferences have generated no interest in our area, even though they were available free thanks to the NYS DLD statewide subscription. The LA SIG sponsored Effective Reference Skills and it was well attended. The Library as Place workshop was especially successful. Committee members who attended requested a session on how to fund and garner stakeholder support for physical space improvements, probably convened by Ed Rivenburgh and Mary Beth Bell.

3)      Upcoming Workshops and Meetings – We have a very strong summer schedule with several instructors who have taught SCRLC classes before. Digital Photography has been requested frequently and will be offered in August.

4)      Fall sessions will include a digital copyright workshop, an LA SIG event on Information Commons (at BU), the probable beginning of a Conservation/Preservation series, and a Collection Development conference.

5)      Report to the Board, 2006 draft was approved with addition of teleconference numbers.

6)      Web Page Review – Some improvements have already been implemented. Hardy reported that a grant proposal is being written to fund an intern who will concentrate on improving LakeNet.Org. Usability studies will assure that changes will reflect users’ needs and usage patterns.

7)      New Business – Moore Memorial Library’s Board has voted to proceed with the next phase of their building project.

8)      Adjournment – Adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
